Becoming More Like Christ, Together Serving the Greater Columbus Area

Everyone should have a community that accepts them unconditionally. We’d love to be yours.

Our Family is Your Family

Life’s bumps and transitions often force you to confront tough spiritual questions. This can be discouraging and even unsettling at times. We believe you should have a safe place to ask those questions and grow your faith within a caring community that will love you unconditionally.

Our multi-generational church family welcomes you. And regardless of where you are on your journey, we are committed to walking alongside you as you seek to understand the truth and live a life that glorifies God.

We know what it’s like to wrestle with hard questions and to face life’s challenges. And while we may not have all the answers, we know the God who does. Whether you’re just curious about Jesus or have been following him for a long time, we have a robust, scripturally-anchored curriculum for every age—from nursery to seniors. Because we all have room to grow and none of us want to stay the same.

No matter your age or life stage, you’ll find caring, authentic friendships to encourage and challenge you in life and in your daily walk with Jesus so you can live the life Christ intended for you right where he’s planted you.

Our Beliefs

  • God is the Creator of everything in this world. (Genesis 1, Colossians 1:16)

God spoke the universe into existence and everything exists for his glory.

  • He loves us and wants us to be with him in Heaven forever. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Since he created us, God has been demonstrating his love for us and bringing us back into relationship with him.

  • God revealed his will for us through the Bible. The Bible is inspired by God, and provides everything we need to know about what God wants us to do. (1 Timothy 4:13, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

We believe in Scripture as absolute truth, given to us by God so that we can know him, serve him and live out his will.

  • Man has chosen to not do God's will, and as a result of disobedience and sin, has been separated from God. Those separated from God when they die will be eternally separated from God( Ephesians 2:1-4, Revelation 20:11-15)

  • God sent Jesus to show us the way to be reconciled to God. (Matthew 1:21)

Out of God’s great love for us, he sent us his son, Jesus, to teach us how to restore our relationship with him so we can be with him forever.

  • Jesus died on the cross for us to take away our sins. (John 3:16)

Jesus is the Savior of the world, and his sacrifice is what allows everyone the opportunity to have a relationship with God and enter heaven.

  • People need to hear about what Jesus did for them, believe in Jesus, turn to God in repentance, and be baptized to be saved. (Colossians 2:12, Peter 3:21, Romans 6:3)

The only way to have a relationship with God and live eternally with him is by believing in Jesus, being baptized, and daily living the instructions he outlines in the Bible which are for our benefit.

  • The church is the assembly of people who believe in Jesus and are saved. (Romans 12:4-5, Colossians 1:18, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13)

The church is a collection of people who have been baptized and seek to become more like Christ and share his message with others.

  • Each individual congregation is led by elders, who are the spiritual leaders of the local church. (1 Timothy 3:1-7)

The Churches of Christ are independent organizations and led by men who are selected by each congregation to lead them according to God’s will.

How We Worship God

Serving the Columbus community for over a hundred years, the Church of Christ at Fishinger Road draws from a deep heritage of faith in providing a broad range of ministries for families and individuals.

The name "Church of Christ" provides a good explanation of who we are and what we do.

Believing that Christ is the head of his church, we do not look to any individual to take the Lord's place. Our congregation is administered by elders, men selected by the congregation to oversee the church under the Lord's authority.

Following the lead of Jesus and his apostles, we only include what they authorized in the work and worship of the congregation.

Because of Jesus Christ, we worship each Sunday—the day of his resurrection. As we worship, the message of Jesus is emphasized in many ways. Primarily, our worship on Sunday provides an opportunity for each Christian to take part in the Lord's Supper. This symbolic meal is a public statement of our faith in Jesus.

Because Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation, anyone willing to publicly declare their faith in Christ is welcome to become a church member through baptism. We believe the work of Jesus Christ is the meaning of baptism, and it is this work that provides forgiveness of sins. Anyone who has been baptized into Christ is welcome to become a member of the church.

Believing Jesus Christ works through his church, we take every aspect of the congregation's work seriously—providing a wide range of opportunities for families to grow and for each person to find his or her place in God's plan.

This commitment to Christ directs our emphasis on children, teens and young adults. Jesus said, "Let the children come to me," and we believe the church must embrace this mission. This commitment extends to all age groups in the congregation, which is why we provide tangible expressions of the love of Christ to everyone.

Jesus Christ commands his church to go into all the world. We share the grace of Christ through works of compassion and by sharing the message of salvation both locally and globally.
